MURRAY BEATS WAWRINKA

Andy Murray has defeated Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland in a match of the Rakuten Japan Open at Ariake Coliseum, Tokyo. With this victory, Murray has made his way into the semi finals of the competition.

Murray won the match by 6-2, 3-6, 6-2. It took Murray approximately two hours to defeat Wawrinka. This was the 12th match between these two players and Murray has won eight of them.

Murray started the match brilliantly. He gave Wawrinka the first blow in the very first game of the match. He served out the second game to make the score 2-0. The next two games went with the serve and the score was 3-1 at the end of the fourth game.

Murray broke Wawrinka’s service again in the 5th game and then, held his service in the next game to take a lead of 5-1. Wawrinka needed a couple of breakthroughs to come back into the set, but, Murray didn’t let that happen. He served out the 8th game to win the first set by 6-2.

Wawrinka bounced back in the second set. He broke Murray’s service in the fourth game to take a lead of 3-1. He held his service in the rest of the games and won the second set by 6-3.

But, the US Open champion lifted his game in the final set. The first three games of the final set went with the serve and the score was 2-1 in the favour of Murray at the end of the third game. Wawrinka’s service was broken in the fourth game and the score became 3-1. Both the players held their service in the next three games.

Wawrinka needed to hold his service in the eighth game to extend the match, but, that wasn’t the case to be. Murray got his second breakthrough in the set and wrapped up the match by winning the final set by 6-2.

In the semi final, Murray will play against Milos Raonic of Canada.

MURRAY SMAHSES RAONIC

Andy Murray has defeated Milos Raonic of Canada in the fourth round of the US Open at the Flushing Meadows.  With this victory, Murray has secured a place in the final 8. Murray won the match in the straight sets by 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.  Raonic, who was given the 15th seed in the competition, tried to rattle Murray with his power game, but, Murray’s class proved to be too much for him. The British superstar played some fantastic return shots and defeated Raonic without having much difficulty. The Canadian player smashed 14 aces in the match, but, that was not enough to stop Murray from winning the match.

In the third round match against Feliciano Lopez, Murray had missed many opportunities and he had to toil hard to win that match. But, in this match, he looked fluent right from the outset. It was wonderful to watch him play in that manner. He latched on every opportunity that came his way. Murray hasn’t won any Grand Slam yet, but, the way he is playing in this tournament, it seems that his first Grand Slam title is not far away.

Murray broke Raonic’s service four times in the entire match, while, the Canadian player didn’t manage to get even a single breakthrough in the match. In the post match interview, Murray said that he was quite disappointed with his performance in the last match, but, he is happy that he is back on track again. As per Murray, it was not easy to compete against Raonic as he serves very powerfully. If you are not quick on your feet, Raonic will just blow you away with his powerful service. In the quarter final, Murray will play against Marin Cilic of Croatia who reached the quarterfinals with an easy victory over Martin Klizan.

MURRAY DEFEATS BAGHDATIS

Andy Murray has defeated Marcos Baghdatis in the third round of the Men’s tennis singles tournament of London Olympics. With this victory, Murray secured a berth in the quarter finals. Murray had won the first two matches with ease, but, in this match, he had to struggle hard. He didn’t look fluent at the start of the match and made some mistakes in the first set. Eventually, he was able to win the match by 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Murray looked rusty right from the beginning of the match. He was not hitting the ball well in the first set. Baghdatis broke Murray’s service in the very first game of the first set. But, the Scottish superstar came back to break the service of Baghdatis in the fourth game to level the score 2-2. But, in the seventh game, Baghdatis broke through again and then kept the lead till the end of the first set to win the set by 6-4. After losing the first set, Murray made a strong come back in the second set. In the fourth game of the second set, Baghdatis served two double faults and Murray broke through to take a lead of 3-1. Murray again broke the service of Baghdatis in the sixth game and then held his service in the next game to win the second set easily by 6-1. In the third set, Murray didn’t have to face much difficulty. He got a breakthrough in the beginning of the set and then he held his service in the remaining games to win the match.

After the match Murray said that he was pretty tensed after losing the first set. It was not easy to make a comeback. As per Murray, when you play in front of such a huge crowd, you tend to get nervous sometimes, but, he is happy that he was able to win the match. In the quarter final, Murray will play against Nicolas Almagro of Spain.
